The Pieni Karhunkierros Trail Is Being Strengthened

The Pieni Karhunkierros Day Hiking Trail, the most popular day trip trail in Kuusamo and the Oulanka National Park, is being strengthened and will welcome the summer season’s visitors in better shape. The work started in early winter with removing old duckboards and earth steps that were in poor condition and will continue through February and March by spreading rubble on the trail.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. The snowmobile tracks in use during the construction work must not be used by visitors as this may cause dangerous situations. Visitors must stay on the official marked trails when visiting the area. The work, which is partly funded by the North Ostrobothnia Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, is being carried out by Metsähallitus’ Kestävästi luontoon project (on sustainable nature tourism).

We will be posting updates on the progress of the strengthening work at the Pieni Karhunkierros Trail on the Outdoors.fi/oulanka pages and Oulanka National Park’s Facebook page.
