History of Linnansaari National ParkLinnansaari National Park Turned 50
Linnansaari National Park was established in
1956. The founding of the national park was proposed to conserve Finland’s
natural lake landscape for future generations and for research. Reasons given
for the purchase of the area were that the nature in the area is exceptionally
beautiful and that its beauty had been taken into account in the care and
management of the area. The Linnansaari islands were the only lake archipelago
owned by the state in all of Southern Finland.
