Valtavaara Hill is the
Kuusamo area’s highest point and the diverse area offers every nature-lover
something from spectacular views and challenging cross-country skiing trails to
fell vegetation which thrives even in these harsh conditions, as well as rare
birds and winter wonderland landscape. Valtavaara is a wonderful place to visit
in summer and winter.
Valtavaara-Pyhävaara Nature Reserve is located in Kuusamo northeast of Ruka
Holiday Resort. The reserve is comprised of three areas: Valtavaara Hill,
Pyhävaara Hill and Juhannuskallio Cliffs.
