Activities in Archipelago National Park

What can one do in Archipelago National Park?

Walk or Snorkel on Marked Trails

Go Canoeing

There are no marked canoeing routes in the National Park area. Canoeing on the sea requires experience and knowledge, so we recommend canoeists contact canoeing clubs (www.kanoottiliitto.fi, in Finnish) when planning their trip. On the islands of the National Park, there are camping sites with campfire sites and dry toilets.

Go Sailing and Motor Boating

For lure fishing the fishing management fee and the provincial lure fishing fee (www.mmm.fi) need to be paid. You can inquire about fishing permits for the Archipelago National Park area at the service number for Villi Pohjola (Eräsetti Wild North): +358 203 44 122.

Go Berry and Mushroom Picking

Berry and mushroom picking is allowed in the National Park, except in restricted areas. In the area it is possible to pick e.g. blueberries (Vaccinium myrtillus), milky caps (Lactarius), chanterelles (Cantharellus) and trumpets (Craterellus).

Go Swimming

There are no public beaches in the National Park, but e.g. in Sandö (in Kimitoön) a shallow sandy beach and sand banks can be found. There is a sandy beach also in Sandviken in the island of Högsåra.
