Nestori - Saimaa Nature Exhibition and Information Point 

Nestori - Saimaa Nature Exhibition provides information on Lake Saimaa, the biggest lake in Finland. In the starring role acts the endangered Saimaa Ringed Seal. The texts in the exhibition are also in English. The information point and the museum shop offer information on the various hiking and boating services in the Savonlinna Region. Nestori is located in the Savonlinna Provincial Museum in the heart of the town of Savonlinna, close to the medieval Olavinlinna Castle.

Opening Hours in 2012 

1.6. - 31.8. Mon - Sun 10 am - 5 pm, at other times Tue - Sun 10 am-5 pm

The services of Nestori are available in the opening hours of the Savonlinna Provincial Museum (www.savonlinna.fi/museo, in finnish).

Entrance

Nestori information point and the museum shop are free of charge. Nestori - Saimaa Nature Exhibition can be visited after paying the entrance fee to the museum (www.savonlinna.fi/museo, in finnish).

Customer Service

At the entrance the information point and the museum shop offer information on the national parks and other protected areas of the Savonlinna Region.

Directions

Visitors can reach Savonlinna by train (www. vr.fi), coach (www. matkahuolto.fi) or plane (www. finavia.fi). Savonlinna Provincial Museum is located close to Olavinlinna Castle. If travelling by car, follow the signs to the castle. Local coaches 1, 2, 3 and 4 stop outside the public library, 500 metres from the museum.

  • Guided presentations for groups are designed for your specific needs and include information on Linnansaari and Kolovesi National Park services and conservation aims, endangered Saimaa Ringed Seal and nature conservation in general. Groups are asked to make reservations for guidance in advance. Guided tours are due to a charge and you also have to pay the entrance fee to the museum (www.savonlinna.fi, in Finnish).

Café and Restaurant Services

There are several cafés and restaurants close to the museum. Most of them are open only in summertime.

The museum building and the exhibitions have disabled access.
